​Genetic Variability Studies in Short Statured Early Maturing M3 Generation Cluster Bean [Cyamopsis tetragonoloba (L.) Taub.] Mutants

Background: The present germplasm of cluster bean lack the needed natural variability for developing early maturing short statured lines. Therefore, an attempt was made to study magnitude heritable stimulated through induced mutation in M3 generation. Methods: generation seeds variety MDU1 treated with gamma rays, electron beam and combination ray EMS were used investigation. biometric observations recorded on ten selected plants from each family every treatments six traits viz., plant height, days first flowering, number clusters per plant, pods pod length yield plant. same method followed recording untreated parental materials also. Result: Studies parameters indicated that phenotypic variance, genotypic heritability genetic advance higher treatment all traits. shortest mutant earliest flowering (3M11) observed 100 Gy ray+20 mM EMS. Mutant highest (3M3) 300 20 mutants (3M1 3M2) (3M1) identified at 400 treatment. Fifteen desirable forwarded next testing stability different environments.
